Festiwool

So off we went to Hitchin Festiwool 2015! (Well it is only down the road for the Guild, a yarn show on our doorstep – aren’t we lucky!).

We set up, started spinning (and weaving) and had a great time chatting to everyone who stopped by our area. We had lots of interest ranging from toddlers entranced by the spinning wheels, wannabe spinners who wanted advice on where to start, as well a couple of mechanically minded folk who were building their own wheels and wanted to study!

Luckily we also had time to browse the stalls and make a few well considered purchases and admired the work of the North Herts College fashion students who’d created a fantastic textile art installation.

In addition to the shopping we also enjoyed the talk by the International Feltmakers Association which a number of the Guild found very inspiring, no doubt we will reap the benefits in our Four Corners workshop next year where felting is on the list of crafts to try.

The fashion show lead by Daphne Selfe was another highlight. The hair and makeup and rest of the models were provided by Bedford College and they did a superb job.

A great day out for the Guild and one we thoroughly enjoyed. Can’t wait for next year. In the meantime we’re busily preparing for our Christmas party and sorting out our parcels for the Stashbuster competition!
